FAQ

HOW ARE TRAUMAS RUN?

Traumas are run completely by EM residents. A PGY-2 EM resident manages the trauma service. When a trauma is activated, the trauma resident as well as 1-2 EM residents working in the ED meet in the trauma bay and run the resuscitation. EM residents manage the airway and complete all procedures.

HOW MANY IN-HOUSE CALL MONTHS WILL I DO?

In the second year, there are 3 months of in-house call: 2 on MICU and 1 on Trauma ICU. In the third year, there is 1 month of MICU in-house call.

HOW MANY MEDICINE MONTHS WILL I COMPLETE?

We do a total of 4 medicine months in the ICU between Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOLRMC) and Baton Rouge General Medical Center (BRGMC). See Curriculum page for details.
