Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOLRMC) is one of 8 sites in the nation selected for the ACGME Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments Initiative. It also serves as the main training site for our residents.
A general medical and surgical hospital established in 1923, OLOLRMC is the largest private medical center in Louisiana with 857 licensed beds. It's the region's only Trauma Center and had over 125,000 ED visits this past year. The ED was recently renovated with 64 adult beds in 4 different treatment areas.
The Baton Rouge General Medical Center (BRGMC) dates back to 1908 when it first opened its doors as "The Sanitarium." Over the next several decades, BRGMC expanded to include two campuses, Mid-City and Bluebonnet, which share 588 beds.
BRGMC also serves as the region's only verified burn center and provides real "community" emergency medicine experience. Residents will rotate through both the ED and adult ICU at the Bluebonnet location during their training.
OLOL Children's Hospital is a brand-new, 360,000 square foot facility that opened its doors in October of 2019. There are a total of 93 beds in the entire hospital including ICU beds. The ED consists of 23 private treatment rooms, 2 critical care bays, and 1 trauma bay. It is projected to see over 35,000 visits every year. Residents will rotate through both the emergency department and pediatric ICU.
Woman's Hospital was one of the first hospitals to provide specialty women's services in the U.S. It ranks 17th in the nation in total births with more than 85,000 deliveries each year. Residents will work along side OB/GYN house staff and attendings on the Labor & Delivery floor in addition to seeing patients in the Assessment Center/ED.
