Why LSU BR? I sought out a 3-year training program that offered unopposed procedural autonomy, a large volume of high-acuity patients and diverse pathology, and an environment that supported my clinical growth while also being connected to a large academic center. During my interview process, I learned that not only does LSU Baton Rouge offer just this, but faculty were willing to go out of their way to support residents and future candidates in a manner that stood out above the rest.

What do you do on your days off? Travel when I can, get outdoors, lifting, jiu jitsu, and great evenings with awesome people.

Why LSU BR?  During my fourth year of medical school, I completed an audition rotation here and fell in love with both the people and the program. I appreciated the autonomy given to each resident, while also observing the faculty's careful oversight. Despite the busy environment in the ER, the faculty were dedicated to teaching, and everyone provided excellent patient care. Additionally, I have three sisters who now live just five minutes away from me. The food, culture, and friendly, supportive community make this place even more special.

What do you do on your days off? Retail therapy (nothing like HomeGoods and Estate sales), spending time with my family (I am one of seven girls), LSU football/ baseball games, gardening, and going to the dog park!

Pets/Family: I married my high school sweetheart, Wesley, almost 6 years ago. We have a husky/golden retriever!

Fun Fact: I went on a hot air balloon ride over the Nile River, but we crash-landed in a trash field.

Why LSU BR?  When I did my away rotation here, I was blown away by the insane volume, acuity, and breadth of patients. It became obvious very quickly that the residents here are prepared for anything that walks in the door. While the training is unmatched, the people (and food) here are what truly sold me! Big plus to be able to move closer to my Louisiana boyfriend. It truly was the best match.

What do you do on your days off? I love to play volleyball, binge read books, go for hikes with my dog, and explore all the incredible food Louisiana has to offer! Cannot emphasize this food enough.

EM Interests: Global health, wilderness medicine

Why LSU BR?   I was drawn to the LSU Baton Rouge Emergency Medicine residency program for its exceptional training opportunities. The program offers unopposed Level 1 trauma exposure, unopposed orthopedic procedures, and extensive ICU training, which are crucial for honing my skills. The autonomy to practice hands-on procedures before consulting specialists was particularly appealing and influenced my decision to train here. The emphasis on ICU training in a high-acuity patient environment convinced me that I would graduate well-prepared for any medical resuscitation, too.

Equally important was finding a program where I would be happy. Access to the physician's lounge for meals may seem like a small detail, but it signaled to me that I would be treated as a respected colleague here. Additionally, two golden weekends every EM block was a unique benefit that demonstrated a commitment to physician wellness throughout the year, rather than just during an annual retreat. These factors collectively made me confident that LSU Baton Rouge was not only the right place to advance my medical career but also a place where I could find fulfillment and balance.

What do you do on your days off? Golfing, finding cool local events and eating all the unique cajun food

What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? I would want to be an animal handler at a zoo

EM Interests: Trauma, critical care, ultrasound, event medicine

Why LSU BR? What really stands out about the program is the mix of high volume, high-acuity cases, and a diverse patient population at an unopposed residency program—it's a fantastic place to learn. The residents and attendings are welcoming and always ready to teach. When I rotated with LSU as a 4th-year med student, I immediately knew this was the perfect fit for me.

What do you do on your days off? On my days off, I mostly spend time with my family and pets. My daughter plays softball, so we spend a lot of time at the ballfield cheering her on. I also love to cook, craft, camp, hike, fish, and kayak whenever we have the chance.

What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? I would make custom tumblers full time as an influencer on social media.

Why LSU BR?  This program provides everything great emergency medicine training should. We practice in a high volume, high acuity Level 1 Trauma Center in an academic environment that provides abundant opportunities for procedures, has great program culture and leadership, and is located in a city with incredible food, drinks, and activities for days off. We also have a pediatric hospital right down the street so we get tons of pediatric exposure and will graduate confident in our ability to manage pediatric patients. Oh, and obviously, Geaux Tigers.

What do you do on your days off? On days off, I like to stay active. Working out, enjoying the outdoors, and working on home improvement projects around the house. Oh, and also pursuing the perfect cup of coffee.

What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? If I wasn't in Emergency Medicine, I think I would be working in forestry or conservation. Or maybe fitness and wellness. Or maybe importing and roasting coffee. The world may never know.

Why LSU BR? I was looking for a program that provided high-quality training with high-acuity patients in an unopposed training environment. Interview day sealed the deal for me. The residents and faculty, along with their enthusiasm about this program, were incomparable to any other I had interviewed with. The unique culture of the city was an added bonus!

What do you do on your days off? Exercise, read fantasy books, find delicious new recipes to make, explore the city, and take my pup to the dog park!

What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? Firefighting with a side gig of horse training!

EM Interests: EMS, Wilderness Medicine, Tactical Medicine

5 Year Plan: Considering an EMS fellowship, likely practice at a community hospital with an eventual goal of becoming an EMS Medical Director.

Pets/Family: My boyfriend Dakota and our dog, Maya (Dalmatian/pit mix) moved with me across the country!
